My wife and I talked about getting an alarm system for our home when we first bought it. We put it off as the neighborhood we were in was pretty quiet and we got to know our neighbors. However, we did keep in mind that criminals drive cars. We actually got ADT in Minneapolis after we adopted a puppy. He could not go to work with us, so he was alone part of the day. We wanted him to be as safe as possible, and that is why we got the alarm system. ADT is a monitored system. If a sensor or detector is tripped, a live agent is notified. The agent calls the house and emergency contact numbers. You can have it sent up to send help immediately. We were worried how our doggy would get out if there was a fire. The alarm system protection will have the fire department dispatched if the smoke detectors go off. It was the best way of protecting our dog.

A big plus is the camera system we have installed. We can see outside and inside our home. We both check on our dog from work a few times per day. Not only does it give us peace of mind that he is safe, it gives us moments of joy. To see him laying on the floor in the sunbeams coming through the window make a hectic day at work all that much better. We know that he will excitedly greet us when we get home, and he will be ready for his walk before supper. If we didn’t have our doggy, we probably would not have gotten the alarm system even though it is something needed for every home. It was not expensive to install, and the monthly monitoring is really inexpensive.
